Gagan Thapa's strong message: Congress members are not allowed to vote except for trees

May 09, Kathmandu - Nepali Congress President Gagan Kumar Thapa has emphasized strict adherence to party discipline and electoral unity within the party.

During a provincial-level gathering held in Dhangadhi, Kailali, Thapa clarified that even official active members of the Nepali Congress cannot vote against party candidates or cast ballots under symbols other than the party’s official emblem. "Being a member of the Congress, taking responsibility, but voting otherwise in elections is unacceptable," he stated.

Thapa underscored the importance of unity and discipline within the party, warning that those working against party candidates while holding responsibilities will be temporarily removed from their positions. According to him, there will be no room for 'ifs and buts' on this matter — firm decisions will be taken.
