First Vehicle Reaches Dumling Village in Darchula, Marking New Dawn for Isolated Region

May 09, Kathmandu - The Nepali Army has inaugurated vehicular movement in Dumling village for the first time following the completion of a 12-kilometer section of the Tusarapani-Tinker road. The road, part of the ongoing Tusarpani-Tinker project, connects Tuyashpani to Dumling, easing access to this remote border area.

Local residents are thrilled as the arrival of vehicles promises improved transportation of daily essentials, medical services, and educational access. The new road is expected to dramatically enhance the livelihoods of the villagers, who previously relied solely on footpaths for travel.

According to the Nepali Army, the total length of the road under construction from Tusarpani to Tinker is 79 kilometers. To date, 22.15 kilometers of the track have been completed, with ongoing work to upgrade and open more sections. The recent opening of 12 kilometers up to Dumling marks a major milestone in this infrastructure project.

The Vyas region, situated near the Nepal-China border, is known for its challenging and rugged terrain. For years, residents faced hardships due to limited connectivity, often having to traverse difficult footpaths. The expansion of this road is expected to bring significant improvements to their quality of life.

Construction of this strategic and developmentally vital road commenced in the fiscal year 2077-78, with the Nepali Army undertaking the challenging task amidst rocky and mountainous terrain.

This road is anticipated to strengthen border security, connect remote communities to the national road network, and promote economic, social, and tourism development in the Vyas region. Local residents have expressed hope that the new route will reduce transportation costs for goods, including food and construction materials, and facilitate easier movement.

With the focus on connecting Tinker border crossing, the Nepali Army has accelerated construction efforts. The completed road is expected to bring long-term benefits, transforming the socio-economic landscape of Vyas and beyond.
