School Winter and Year-End Breaks Shortened Amid New Public Holiday Policy

May 12, Kathmandu - The government has reduced the number of school holidays from 45 to 30 days following the implementation of two additional public holidays per week. The Education and Human Resource Development Centre announced the decision, citing difficulties in completing the curriculum with the previous holiday schedule.

To accommodate the shorter break, schools have been instructed to manage daily schedules by allocating 15 minutes for prayers and 30 minutes for snacks. Additionally, academic activities are to be carried out from Monday to Friday, ensuring uninterrupted learning.

The Centre clarified that internal assessments for the first and second quarters will not be affected and can be completed as scheduled. The last 12 days of the academic session can also be utilized for final examinations and result publications.

Previously, a cabinet meeting had decided on Chaitra 22, 2082 BS to designate Saturday and Sunday as public holidays across educational institutions.
