Bardiya Police Seize 280g of Brown Sugar, Arrest Four Youths Including Two Indians in Drug Bust

May 14, Kathmandu - Bardiya Police apprehended four individuals, including two Indian nationals, in an operation and seized a significant quantity of brown sugar. 

The arrestees include 26-year-old Bijay Singh and 35-year-old Tejendra Kumar from Kheri Tikunia, Uttar Pradesh, India. According to Deputy Police Spokesperson Inspector Prakash Singh Karki, approximately 280 grams of brown sugar were recovered from their possession.

A joint team from the Lumbini Provincial Police Office Dang, Narcotics Division Nepalgunj Banke, and Bardiya District Police conducted a covert operation on the evening of Baisakh 29. Based on intelligence, the team intercepted the suspects riding a motorcycle with Indian number plates near Baba Petrol Pump on Bypass Road, Mahakavi Tole, Gulariya Municipality-7. During a search, the officers found the concealed narcotics.

The two Indian nationals are currently in custody at the Bardiya District Police Office while further investigations are underway.

In addition, on the same night, around 8:30 PM, police personnel from Jumuni Police Post intercepted two more suspects near the border checkpoint at Futa, Bardiya. The suspects, identified as 30-year-old Sarojraj Tuladhar from Bungamati, Lalitpur, and 37-year-old Deepak Nath Yogi from Khajura Rural Municipality-4, Banke, were caught with 3 grams and 180 milligrams of brown sugar.

Both groups are in custody at the respective police offices for further investigation.
