Trump Wraps Up Historic China Visit with Key Talks and Promises of Stronger US-China Ties

May 15, Kathmandu - U.S. President Donald Trump held a decisive meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping on the final day of his China visit. The high-level talks took place at the Zhongnanhai complex in Beijing, known as the core of China’s top leadership and one of the most secure and secretive centers of power.

Following the meeting, Trump claimed that an "excellent trade agreement" had been reached with China, suggesting that the deal would benefit both nations. "We have made some outstanding agreements that will be good for both countries," he stated, though he did not disclose specific details of the pact.

Over recent years, the U.S. and China have been at odds over trade, technology, and security issues. However, signs of efforts to improve relations are emerging.

During the talks, both leaders were treated to a special lunch featuring seafood soup, cod fish, crispy and stir-fried lobsters, and mushroom-stuffed beef fillets, according to the White House.

Trump spent the final hours of his China trip at Xi Jinping’s private residence near the Forbidden City—an exclusive location rarely accessible to foreigners. He had lunch with Xi and was scheduled to depart China later in the afternoon, having arrived approximately 48 hours earlier.

In a notable comment, Trump mentioned that he and Xi share similar views on Iran, emphasizing their mutual stance against nuclear proliferation and advocating for open maritime routes.

On social media, Trump praised Xi for acknowledging the achievements made by the U.S. in a short period, expressing hope that US-China relations will continue to strengthen.
