May 15, Kathmandu - A rare one-horned rhino was found dead in Makaiwar, Lakaha, eastern Nawalparasi, on Friday.

According to the Nawalparasi District Police Office, the incident occurred in Bhim Bahadur Dajir’s maize field in Lakaha, Ward No. 11, Kavresti Municipality.

The local residents discovered the dead rhino around 7:45 AM, estimating its age to be approximately 30 to 35 years old, and immediately informed the authorities.

Upon receiving the news, police, the Division Forest Office Nawalpur, and Rajhar District Forest Office team members reached the scene to investigate.

Nawalparasi East District Police Office has stated that further investigations are ongoing regarding the circumstances of the rhino’s death.
