Nepal Starts Steady in ICC Cricket World Cup League-2 Against Scotland

May 18, Kathmandu - Nepal has begun the ICC Cricket World Cup League-2 match against Scotland with a cautious approach.

At the TU Cricket Ground in Kirtipur on Monday, the home team, chasing Scotland's target of 195 runs, scored 62 runs for the loss of two wickets in the first 10 overs.

Currently at the crease, captain Rohit Paudel has scored 2 runs, while Ishan Pandey is on 1 run. Earlier, openers Asif Sheikh and Kushal Bhurtel scored 29 and 28 runs respectively after returning from the pavilion. Scotland's Brandon McMullen took one wicket.

In the first innings, Scotland, after losing the toss and batting first, scored 194 all out in 39.1 overs against Nepal. Nepal aims to avenge their defeat in the previous match, where they narrowly lost by 2 runs under the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method.

Nepal faces pressure to win in order to keep their top-four chances alive. A victory in this match would move Nepal to fifth place. Currently, Nepal is seventh with 20 points from 26 matches. Meanwhile, Scotland is also aiming to maintain their winning streak and strengthen their lead at the top.

In this series, Scotland defeated Nepal and the USA by 2 runs each under the DLS method. Scotland has accumulated 38 points from 30 matches.
