Police Arrest Suspect for Sharp Weapon Attack in Kathmandu

May 21, Kathmandu - Kathmandu Police have detained a person in connection with a stabbing incident in Sheshamati, Tarkeshwor Municipality-8.

According to SP Pawan Kumar Bhattarai of the Kathmandu District Police Office, the suspect is accused of stabbing a minor with a knife, causing injuries.

The incident occurred on Baisakh 4, when a group of 4-5 unidentified individuals allegedly attacked 19-year-old Navaraj Giri of Khotang with a knife in Sheshamati, leaving him injured.

Meanwhile, Ujjwal Magar, 18, of Barpak Sulikot Rural Municipality-8 in Gorkha and a resident of Sheshamati, was arrested from Lalitpur in connection with the case. He was among those who fled the scene after the attack.

The police have obtained five days’ detention approval from the Kathmandu District Court to investigate the case further, under charges of attempted murder.
