Nepal Telecom Launches 4G Service in Dolpa’s Chharka Tangsong Village, Expanding Connectivity in Remote Regions

May 24, Kathmandu - Nepal Telecom has inaugurated 4G services in Kagkot, the central area of Chharka Tangsong Rural Municipality in Dolpa district. The service was launched through a 4G-enabled tower installed in Mukot, situated at an altitude of 4,200 meters above sea level, utilizing microwave radio technology, according to Nepal Telecom spokesperson Dr. Kamal Lamichhane.

With this development, the number of local governments covered by Nepal Telecom's 4G network has reached 750. This marks the first 4G site operational in Upper Dolpa. However, additional coverage is still pending in Dolpa District’s Dolpo Buddha Rural Municipality, Shey-Phoksundo Rural Municipality, and Narpa Bhumi Rural Municipality of Manang District. Nepal Telecom has committed to extending 4G services to these areas in the near future.

The expansion of 4G connectivity is expected to significantly improve communication for local residents, pilgrims, and tourists trekking through the region. It will also facilitate administrative, security, health, and educational activities, connecting the remote Himalayan areas with modern digital networks and contributing to regional development.

As a pillar of communication across the nation, Nepal Telecom reaffirmed its dedication to providing cutting-edge telecommunication and information technology services to even the most remote and rugged locations, supporting the country's broader development goals.
