May 24, Kathmandu - Reports suggest that the United States and Iran are on the verge of reaching a major agreement, potentially leading to a 60-day extension of their ceasefire. According to Axios, the two countries are close to finalizing a deal that could ease tensions and renew diplomatic relations.
Under the proposed agreement, the Strait of Hormuz may be reopened, allowing ships to pass freely once again. Iran is also said to be willing to dismantle the underground missile tunnels located in Hormuz during this period.
In exchange, the US is expected to relax some sanctions on Iran’s ports, potentially lifting restrictions to allow Iran to resume oil exports.
The deal reportedly includes Iran’s commitment to never pursue nuclear weapons, along with limitations on uranium enrichment activities and the removal of high-enriched uranium stockpiles.
Furthermore, the agreement may address conflicts between Israel and Hezbollah, with provisions allowing Israel to retaliate if Hezbollah initiates attacks.
This potential breakthrough could reshape regional stability and mark a significant step toward diplomacy in the Middle East.
