Nepal Police Submit Report on Medical Practitioner Durga Prasai to Prosecutor’s Office

May 25, Kathmandu - The Parsa District Police have completed their investigation into medical professional Durga Prasai and submitted their report to the District Public Prosecutor’s Office.

According to DSP Hari Basnet of the Parsa District Police Office, the report was presented to the prosecutor's office on Monday.

Prasai was detained on Jestha 4 at Diyalo Hotel in Birgunj. Authorities have indicated that charges are being pursued under the Electronic Transactions Act, 2063, as well as for offenses against the state.

During the investigation, police examined various YouTube interviews and public statements made by Prasai. In these statements, he reportedly used derogatory language against women, commented on state institutions such as the army and police, and made various claims about prominent figures including Prime Minister Balen Shah, Rabi Lamichhane, Kulman Ghising, and Harka Sampang.

Prasai had traveled to Parsa to visit Gahawa Mai Mandir in Birgunj and to address locals whose structures had been damaged. Meanwhile, the Supreme Court ordered his release from detention until Monday.
