Construction of Gautam Buddha Cricket Stadium Resumes After Budget Release

Jun 04, Kathmandu - The construction work of Gautam Buddha Cricket Stadium has recommenced after a delay caused by late budget disbursement.

Previously, the construction company had halted work for one month, citing unpaid dues due to delayed payments from the Bagmati Province Government.

However, after the release of Rs 9 crore from the Bagmati Province Government, the construction activities have resumed, according to Bharatpur Metropolitan City Engineer Adarsh Pokhrel.

Division Engineer Santosh Acharya from Bharatpur Metropolitan stated that payments to the contractor have been made as per the bills. The Himalayan Kalinchowk BBR JV is carrying out the stadium’s construction work.

The contract deadline is set for Poush 22, 2081. Currently, 55% of the work has been completed. The total contract amount was Rs 755 million 91 thousand 189, signed between Bharatpur Metropolitan City and the contractor in Jestha 2081, with the completion date set for Poush 22, 2083.

Due to challenges faced by Dhurmus Suntali Foundation, the Metropolitan City initiated the project through a tender process.
