February 26, Kathmandu- All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) has appointed Gary Phillips as the head coach of the Nepali national women's football team. ANFA's technical committee on Thursday appointed Phillips as the head coach of the women's team.
ANFA has appointed Phillips as its the head coach for the women's AFC Asian Cup qualifiers and the SAAF Championship. Prior to that, Phillips worked as a technical director.
The women's team is without a coach after the 13th South Asian Games held in Nepal last year. Head coach Hari Khadka had resigned after losing to India in the final of the SAG.
The women's team has not played any international tournament since the final match in Pokhara. Gary, an Australian, was appointed technical director at ANFA in November last year. Returning home amid the Corona epidemic, he arrived in Nepal last month following a new agreement.
