Jun 27, Kathmandu - Three Nepalis have lost their lives in various incidents in South Korea in the last one month. The Nepali Embassy in Korea has stated that three people died between 2004 and 2006.
Prakash Rai, a resident of Prakashpur, Barahakshetra Municipality-10, Sunsari, and Ganesh Thapa, 29, a resident of Molung Rural Municipality-7, Okhaldhunga, died in a road accident. Similarly, the cause of death of Ashish Adhikari, a resident of Sainamaina Municipality, Rupandehi, is yet to be confirmed.
Rai, who had been working in Korea for about 15 years, died in an accident on 31st Jestha. He was working in the Thangjin area of Korea on an E-7 visa. His body was found in a canal near his workplace. He died when his bicycle fell into the canal while riding a bicycle in the evening.
Similarly, Ganesh Thapa, 29, a resident of Molung Rural Municipality-7, Okhaldhunga, working in the Pochan area of Korea, died in a road accident on 31st Jestha. He came to Korea for employment three years ago and was working on a cattle farm under the agricultural sector. He died in an accident while going to the market with a vehicle used to bring necessary materials for the farm. The embassy has stated that the bodies of the deceased Rai and Thapa have been sent to Nepal.
Similarly, it is believed that the official who was found dead in the Sanchong area of Gyeongsangnam-do Province, Korea, may have committed suicide, although the cause of his death is yet to be confirmed. Further investigation into the incident of his coming to Korea for employment about 3 years ago is underway and the process of sending the body is underway through the concerned agencies. The embassy has also urged Nepalis here to be aware of their physical and mental health and to immediately contact the embassy or stakeholders in case of any problems and resolve the problem.
