Tragic Blaze in Punjab: Bridegroom and Sister-in-Law Succumb to Fire Attack After Family Dispute

Jul 05, Kathmandu - In a heartbreaking incident in Tarn Taran, Punjab, a man lost his life after being doused with petrol and set on fire by his brother-in-law. The incident occurred on June 13 and has since gone viral on social media.

The victim, Lovpreet Singh, had gone to his in-laws' house to reconcile with his wife, Sandeep Kaur, after a recent argument. However, his brother-in-law, Sajan Singh, reportedly poured petrol on him and set him ablaze at the scene, resulting in his immediate death.

A woman accompanying Lovpreet Singh, his sister-in-law Gurjitt, attempted to rescue him but was severely burned in the process. She later succumbed to her injuries during treatment. 

Police investigations reveal that the incident took place in Sangha village, Tarn Taran district. Sajan Singh, the accused, also sustained serious burns and has been hospitalized in critical condition. Authorities have registered a case against him and are conducting further inquiries.

The viral video shows the horrifying moment when the assailant pours a flammable substance on Lovpreet Singh and ignites it with a lighter. A woman, likely Gurjitt, rushes to stop him but is caught in the flames. Despite efforts to extinguish the fire, both victims suffered fatal injuries.

The incident has shocked the community and sparked widespread outrage on social media.
