Two Youths Arrested with 487 kg of Marijuana in Mahottari

Jul 05, Kathmandu - Police have arrested two youths from Mahottari with more than 487 kg of marijuana. The arrested are Bipas Negi, 21, of Bhakunde, Kailash Rural Municipality-6, Makawanpur, and Sadhuram Theeng, 24, of Ward No. 1, Kyureni, Mahottari, informed police spokesperson and DSP Panchalal Gole.

According to him, on the night of Asadha 20, a team of Armed Police Force Nepal No. 9 Battalion Hequa seized 40 kg 360 grams of marijuana wrapped in plastic while checking a truck bearing number Na 3 Kha 6592 in Bhataulia, Mahottari Rural Municipality-1, and handed it over to the Mahottari Police.

The police have initiated further investigation based on the statements of the arrested persons during the initial investigation, and this morning, DSP Gole said, an additional 446 kg 745 grams of marijuana was seized during a search of a house in Rani Ratwada, Mahottari Rural Municipality-4. With this, the total quantity of marijuana seized has reached 487 kg 105 grams, he said.

The District Police Office, Mahottari, has stated that further investigation is underway into drug-related offenses against the seized marijuana, the truck, and the truck drivers Negi and Thing, who were arrested on charges of involvement in the incident.
