Jul 06, Kathmandu - An 89-year-old grandmother from Maharashtra has successfully regained ownership of 7.5 acres of agricultural land, which was transferred to her grandson under the condition of lifelong care. The land transfer was annulled after the senior citizen tribunal found that her grandson and daughter-in-law failed to provide proper care, violating laws protecting elderly rights.
According to the tribunal’s ruling, the legal documents related to the land transfer have been canceled. The court also ordered her grandson and daughter-in-law to return all benefits derived from the land, including government subsidies, crop income, and other financial gains along with interest.
This landmark decision underscores the importance of safeguarding senior citizens’ rights and property, reinforcing legal protections for the elderly against exploitation and neglect.
