Jul 10, Kathmandu - A man attempted to take his own life by setting himself on fire in Buddhanagar, Kathmandu. According to Kathmandu District Police Office SP Pawan Kumar Bhattarai, 45-year-old Ashwin Raut, a resident of Buddhanagar-10, poured petrol on himself and ignited his body Saturday morning.

The incident was reported around 6 a.m. in his kitchen, where he was found with flames engulfing his body. Raut is currently receiving treatment at Bir Hospital. Police have initiated further investigation into the incident.

This comes just days after another self-immolation attempt in the city. On Thursday, Ganesh Nepali, who set himself on fire in Tripureshwor, succumbed to his injuries at Bir Hospital on Friday. Additionally, Vivek Mandal from Sarlahi also tried to self-immolate on Friday; he was airlifted to Kathmandu for treatment.

Authorities continue to look into these distressing incidents as issues of mental health and social pressures remain under scrutiny.
