Jul 11, Kathmandu - In a bid to facilitate the thousands of devotees visiting Pashupatinath Temple for worship and darshan during the holy Shrawan month, a cleanliness campaign has been launched in the Pashupatinath area.

Since Shrawan month and Mondays are considered auspicious for worshiping Lord Shiva, millions of devotees visit Pashupatinath for religious rituals on the same day. To ensure a smooth experience for these devotees, the Pashupati Area Development Fund has initiated a cleanliness drive, announced acting Secretary and Treasurer Meenakumari Shrestha.

On the first day of the campaign, cleaning activities were carried out from the main Pashupatinath Temple area to Suryaghat. The campaign will continue into Sunday afternoon, with plans to conduct detailed cleaning after the main temple is closed, involving security agencies to assist in the efforts, she added.

Over a dozen organizations participated in the initial cleaning drive. Shrestha also mentioned that the fund plans to sustain the cleanliness campaign every Saturday and carry out additional special cleaning initiatives as needed throughout Sawan.
