Jul 13, Kathmandu - The ruling Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has expressed serious concern over recent incidents involving unidentified vehicles parked suspiciously outside various media offices, which it describes as an attempt to intimidate journalists.

In a statement issued on Monday by General Secretary Bipin Kumar Acharya, the party highlighted that such suspicious activities, aimed at psychological pressure on media personnel and journalists, constitute a blatant violation of democratic values and principles.

RSP reaffirmed its unwavering support for independent press, citizens' right to information, and free journalism. The party emphasized that any attempt to interfere with media freedom, create an atmosphere of fear within media institutions, or undermine the Fourth Estate of democracy is unacceptable.

The party also described free and fearless journalism as the "life-blood" of democracy and condemned all activities aimed at intimidating the press.

Furthermore, RSP called on the Nepalese government, the Home Ministry, and relevant security agencies to conduct an immediate, impartial, and fact-based investigation into the incidents. It urged authorities to ensure the physical and psychological safety of journalists and identify those responsible for legal action.

The party assured its continued support for journalists to pursue truthful and unbiased reporting without fear or pressure, reaffirming its commitment to safeguarding press freedom and the security of media personnel.
