Jul 18, Kathmandu - Five prisoners attempted self-immolation by dousing themselves with kerosene at Rajbiraj Prison in Saptari on Saturday morning.

According to the prison administration, the incident occurred after an internal dispute between the prisoners that had been going on for a few days.

No human casualties were reported as security personnel and a medical team were activated in time.

Chief District Officer Shyam Krishna Thapa said that tension increased after a minor dispute with the watchman.

It is said that the situation is currently under control through discussions and further investigation into the incident is underway.
