Jul 18, Kathmandu - The Ministry of Industry has approved foreign investment commitments totaling NPR 58.85 billion for the fiscal year 2082/83. The department reported that between mid-July and mid-July of the current Nepali calendar year, foreign investments worth NPR 9.58 billion were committed through the 'Automatic Route' for 897 projects, while NPR 48.41 billion was pledged for 219 projects via the 'Unapproved Route'.
According to the department, in the previous fiscal year, the productive sector attracted foreign investment commitments worth NPR 3.91 billion across 63 projects. Similarly, the energy sector saw commitments for four projects amounting to NPR 7.16 billion.
The agricultural sector received foreign investment commitments for 18 projects totaling NPR 2.31 billion, and the tourism sector attracted NPR 1.39 billion across 227 projects. Additionally, the information and communication technology sector saw commitments for 727 projects worth NPR 283 million.
This surge in foreign investment signifies Nepal’s growing appeal as an investment destination across diverse sectors.
