Jul 21, Kathmandu - A man’s body was recovered from a car that mysteriously caught fire in Kirtipur. The police have removed the body and sent it to TU Teaching Hospital for an autopsy.
The incident occurred at Chandani Chowk in Tangla Font, Kirtipur, on Tuesday morning at 11:20 AM, when the vehicle suddenly engulfed in flames.
According to Dilip Ghimire, SSP of Kathmandu District Police Range, the man succumbed to injuries caused by the fire. The car, with license plate Ba.5 Ch 3038, was reportedly purchased on installment with a loan from Nabil Bank.
While the identity of the car owner has been established, authorities are investigating whether the driver and owner are the same person. Eyewitnesses report that a white Kia vehicle stopped at Chandani Chowk, and initially, a small fire was seen inside the car. The blaze suddenly intensified, prompting police and locals to use fire extinguishers to control the flames.
The Kirtipur Police Circle is currently investigating the incident.
