Jul 26, Kathmandu - Nepali karate coach and international referee Sudarsan Simkhada exemplifies that success in sports is not measured by physical height but by capability, self-confidence, and dedication.

Standing at approximately 152.4 centimeters (5 feet), Singhda has made a significant mark in Nepal’s karate scene, setting rare records in international Kyokushin Karate.

At just 20 years old in 1996, Simkhada made his mark as one of the youngest international referees in Kyokushin Karate, earning recognition in international competitions. A year later, at 21, he became the chief coach of the Nepali team during the first World Weight Category Kyokushin Karate Championship held in Tokyo, Japan—becoming one of the youngest and shortest coaches at the event.

In 1997, Simkhada achieved another milestone by officiating as an international referee at the 7th Asian Kyokushin Karate Championship held in India, all at the age of 21. His journey underscores that physical stature is secondary to skill and confidence.

Throughout his career, Simkhada has conveyed that true strength lies in capability and self-belief. Representing Nepal on the international stage, he has played a vital role in establishing Nepal’s presence in the global Kyokushin Karate arena.

For nearly 35 years, Simkhada has trained over 8,000 to 10,000 athletes, many of whom now represent Nepal in national and international competitions. His contributions extend beyond sports, as he actively engages in social service, inspiring the younger generation.
