Jul 31, Kathmandu - Four bodies have been recovered from the Broad Peak in Pakistan after an avalanche during an ascent claimed the lives of ten climbers, including Nepali mountaineers. Among the deceased, the identities of two have been confirmed, according to local reports.

Major General Irfan Arshad, President of the Alpine Club of Pakistan, identified the fallen climbers as Nadhira Ahmed Abdulla Al Harthy from Oman and Pur Bahadur Gurung from Nepal. They were reported missing following the avalanche on Thursday.

The Alpine Club of Pakistan stated that the 10-member team included climbers from Pakistan, Oman, the United States, China, and Nepal, with six Nepali mountaineers among them.

From Nepal, the deceased include Purbahadur Gurung, along with Nimral Purja, Kili Pemba Sherpa, Nima Sherpa, Nawang Thindu Sherpa, and Gyalu Sherpa. Search and rescue operations for the remaining missing climbers are ongoing.
