Aug 01, Kathmandu - In an effort to de-escalate the tense situation across various districts of Madhesh, Home Minister Sudan Gurung has initiated talks with protesting groups in Janakpur on Saturday.

Gurung engaged in discussions with representatives of the protestors to seek a peaceful resolution.

The unrest in Terai districts intensified after a clash on Shrawan 10 in Kaptanagar, Sunsari, resulted in the deaths of two youths. Following the incident, protests and demonstrations surged across the region.

Additionally, violence in Siraha between two groups escalated, leading to police firing that claimed one more young person's life.

To restore calm and directly monitor the security situation, Home Minister Gurung is currently visiting districts in Madhesh. Progress through dialogue has led to a gradual return to peaceful conditions in some areas.

While some districts have lifted curfews, restrictions remain in place as a precaution against potential risks.

The government has emphasized that maintaining social harmony and resolving issues through dialogue and negotiations remains its primary approach to handling the crisis.
