Aug 01, Kathmandu - Prime Minister Balen Shah has expressed deep sorrow and heartfelt condolences for the tragic loss of Nepali mountaineer Nirmal Purja (Nims Dai), along with other climbers, in a devastating avalanche on Pakistan’s Broad Peak during an expedition.

In a special condolence statement posted on his social media platform Facebook, Prime Minister Shah highlighted that mountain climbing is not merely about reaching the summit but also a testament to courage, discipline, and the indomitable human spirit that challenges limits.

• Shocking Loss of Ten Climbers: The Prime Minister expressed grief over the heartbreaking death of six Nepali and four foreign climbers, including record-breaking mountaineer Nimsdai Purja, on Broad Peak, located in the Karakoram Range of Pakistan at 8,051 meters, the 12th highest mountain in the world.
• A Legacy of Courage: He emphasized that the history of bravery will remain immortal. While mountains often bestow pride and sometimes hold climbers in their embrace forever, the extraordinary courage and dedication of these mountaineers will be remembered eternally in history.
• Beyond the Physical Journey: The Prime Minister clarified that only the physical journey has ended for the fallen climbers. Their contributions and bravery in the field of mountaineering have left an indelible mark on Nepal and the global community, inspiring future generations.

Prime Minister Shah extended heartfelt condolences to the families, relatives, and well-wishers worldwide during this difficult time. He also acknowledged that losing one of the world’s most daring sons is an irreplaceable loss for Nepal’s tourism and adventure sports sectors.
