Aug 02, Kathmandu - As the monsoon becomes more active, disaster incidents across Nepal are on the rise. In the past 24 hours alone, one person has lost their life, and 20 others have been injured due to various calamities.

According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, between 10 AM Friday and 10 AM Saturday, 34 disaster events were recorded in 25 districts. These include 14 snakebite cases, 11 fires, 6 landslides, and 3 incidents of wild animal attacks. The snakebite incident resulted in one fatality. The authorities estimate the total economic loss from these incidents at approximately 2.725 million Nepalese Rupees. Additionally, two roads were blocked, and 18 livestock were damaged.

Meanwhile, since the beginning of the current monsoon season on Baisakh 1, a total of 4,053 disaster events have occurred nationwide. These have resulted in 196 deaths, four missing persons, and 1,291 injuries. Over 5,188 families have been directly affected by these calamities.
