Support Grows for Nurse Jyoti Ranabhat as Protest Continues Over 15 Demands

Aug 04, Kathmandu - A demonstration has been organized in support of Nurse Jyoti Raanabhat, who has been on a six-day hunger strike demanding fulfillment of her 15-point charter. The protest took place within the premises of Bir Hospital in Kathmandu.

Raanabhat has been fasting since August 14, advocating for issues including minimum wages for nurses and midwives, ending labor exploitation, and other pressing concerns outlined in her demands.

During the protest, banners displayed slogans such as “No to Exploitation,” “Healthcare Runs Because of Nurses, Not Praises,” “We Want Salaries, Not Applause,” and “Fair Pay Is Our Right.” The demonstrators emphasized the importance of fair compensation and better working conditions for healthcare professionals.
