Aug 07, Kathmandu - Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi revealed on Wednesday that communication with Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has become significantly difficult. Raisi emphasized, however, that the Leader’s presence remains a vital source of strength for the nation.

The President’s remarks come amidst ongoing tensions following the joint attack by the United States and Israel on Iran’s military facilities, which injured Khamenei’s son, Mojtaba Khamenei. The younger Khamenei, who succeeded his father as the heir apparent, has recently appeared publicly for the first time since the attack.

Mojtaba Khamenei, whose father, Iran’s former Supreme Leader, passed away on February 28 after the initial assault, is largely managing administrative affairs through written statements. His limited public appearances have fueled speculation about his relationship with other senior officials, especially as he notably did not attend his father’s funeral last month.

Despite the communication hurdles, Raisi affirmed his productive meetings with Mojtaba Khamenei and praised the young leader for his “kind and highly rational” approach. “Unfortunately, due to current circumstances, some malicious individuals portray him differently and spread a distorted image,” Raisi stated.

The developments highlight the ongoing internal dynamics within Iran’s leadership amid escalating regional tensions.
