Six Arrested in Connection with Violent Incident in Kaptanganj

Aug 09, Kathmandu - Sunsari police have detained six individuals suspected of involvement in a violent incident that occurred in Devanaganj Rural Municipality-3, Kaptanganj. The detainees are currently in the custody of the Sunsari District Police Office as investigations into the incident continue.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Chandra Bahadur Khadka of Sunsari Police, efforts are underway to identify the roles of those arrested in the incident. “Six people have been detained regarding the Kaptanganj incident, and investigations are ongoing to determine their involvement,” DSP Khadka stated. “We are examining what role each of them played in the violence.”

The police have not publicly disclosed the names of the arrested individuals. Authorities have also indicated that if further involvement of other persons is uncovered during the investigation, those individuals will also be taken into custody and legal action will be initiated.

The conflict in Kaptanganj turned violent earlier, resulting in the deaths of three people and injuries to nearly 40 others. The incident sparked tension in the local area. Police are conducting a thorough investigation from various angles, including gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, and taking statements from the detainees. The police assured that those found guilty will face appropriate legal action as per the prevailing laws.
