Aug 09, Kathmandu - Monsoon conditions continue to affect Nepal nationwide, with widespread cloud cover and variable rainfall forecasted for the day and night. According to the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology, the low-pressure monsoon trough remains situated near the central region, contributing to unsettled weather across the country.

Cloudy skies are expected throughout Nepal this afternoon, with moderate to heavy rainfall anticipated in several regions. The Himalayan areas may experience moderate rainfall and snowfall, while many hilly regions are likely to receive moderate precipitation. Additionally, some parts of the Terai and hill regions in provinces such as Lumbini, Sudurpaschim, Madhesh, Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki are forecasted to see moderate rainfall.

Heavy rainfall is also predicted in the Himalayan and hilly zones of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, as well as in the mountainous parts of Karnali and the hill and Terai regions of Lumbini Province.

Tonight, the monsoon system is expected to bring cloud cover across the country, with heavy rainfall and snowfall possible in some Himalayan areas. Many regions, including the hills of Koshi, Gandaki, and Sudurpaschim, along with the Terai plains of these provinces, are likely to experience moderate to heavy rain.

The Department warns of increased risks of floods, landslides, and soil erosion due to heavy rainfall, urging residents in vulnerable areas to exercise caution. The heavy rains could disrupt daily life, agriculture, tourism, and transportation services, including road and air travel, emphasizing the need for vigilance and preparedness.
