Aug 11, Kathmandu - Krantishikha Dhital, a lawmaker from the Rashtriya Swatantra Party (RSP), has emphasized the need to eliminate discrimination between private and government intern doctors regarding their hardships and issues. Speaking during a session of the House of Representatives, she highlighted the ongoing migration of doctors from Nepal and urged the government to create a conducive environment to retain medical professionals within the country.

Dhital pointed out that intern doctors in private medical colleges receive an average stipend of 10,000 rupees, while those in government colleges receive 24,000 rupees. Although establishing a uniform standard for private and government medical colleges is challenging, she argued that such a significant disparity in stipends is unjustifiable.

She called on the government to formulate clear procedures for stipends for intern doctors, implement them immediately, and fulfill the promises made to healthcare professionals.
