Nepal Telecom Simplifies Postpaid Mobile Name Transfer Through Online System

Aug 14, Kathmandu - Nepal Telecom has announced a major upgrade to its postpaid GSM mobile number transfer process, making it more convenient for customers to complete the procedure online.

Under the new system, customers wishing to transfer their postpaid SIM to another person's name can now fill out all necessary details through the online platform. Once the information is submitted, customers only need to visit the nearest Nepal Telecom office or Customer Service Center for final verification and to pay the transfer fee.

To initiate the process, customers can log into Nepal Telecom’s customer portal, enter their mobile number, and verify their identity via an OTP. Following this, they will be required to provide personal details of both the current and new account holders.

Additionally, the process requires customers to provide details of five recent outgoing call numbers from the past month. After completing the online form, customers must contact the nearest Nepal Telecom office or Customer Service Center to finalize the transfer through in-person or authorized representative verification.

Customers will also need to pay the applicable transfer fee and present their citizenship certificate for final authentication, which can be done personally or through a authorized representative. This new system aims to eliminate long waiting times at offices and make the name transfer process faster and more efficient.

For customers unable to visit the office in person, arrangements have been made to authorize representatives for final verification, ensuring service accessibility for those abroad or unable to visit due to other reasons.

Currently, this online transfer facility is available only for individual customers. Corporate clients will still need to visit the relevant office for the transfer process, as before.

Nepal Telecom states that this online system is part of its broader efforts to expand digital services and streamline customer experience, including the name transfer process for postpaid SIMs.
