Government Implements New Guidelines to Regulate and Optimize Official International Visits

Aug 14, Kathmandu - In a move to streamline and make international travel for civil servants more disciplined, cost-effective, and impactful, the government has introduced new standards governing foreign visits by public sector employees.

Under the new directives, prior approval from the Prime Minister's Office is now mandatory before any government employee is sent abroad. The Prime Minister's Office has issued a circular instructing all ministries, commissions, and government agencies to refrain from appointing or sending employees on foreign trips without prior approval. The government has also emphasized strict enforcement to prevent unauthorized travel.

According to the new policy, employees participating in study programs, training, meetings, seminars, workshops, or conferences abroad must share the knowledge, skills, and experiences gained with their colleagues upon return. Employees are required to complete this knowledge exchange within five days of their return and reporting to their respective offices.

With enhanced monitoring of the implementation of these standards, the government aims to curb unnecessary international travel and ensure that the skills and insights gained abroad are utilized within the government system for greater efficiency and impact.
