Aug 15, Kathmandu - In the second day of the three-day national convention organized by the informal faction of the Nepali Congress, various thematic reports were presented, including a significant proposal for constitutional amendments. 

Ramesh Lekhak put forward a 43-point proposal advocating for comprehensive reforms within the party's internal structure. The proposed amendments include establishing a candidate selection committee across all levels, ensuring a fixed number of former presidents and close contenders for the party chairperson are included in the process.

The proposal emphasizes implementing measures so that an individual can hold only one position at a time, and discourages continuous candidacies through proportional representation or nominations, aiming to promote fresh leadership and opportunities.

Additionally, the proposal suggests establishing a Central Election Training Institute and making timely amendments to address confidence motions against elected representatives and officeholders at all levels.

To honor senior leaders and active members, the Central Working Committee is also proposed to decide on nominating honorary delegates and members of the General Committee in recognition of their contributions.
