Nepal's Economy Committee Reduces Governor’s Term to Three Years

Aug 20, Kathmandu - The Economics Committee has decided to reduce the tenure of the Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank from five years to three years. The decision was made during deliberations on the amendment to the Nepal Rastra Bank Act, which is currently under discussion.  

Previously, the Governor's term was set at five years. Under the revised bill, the term will be three years, with the possibility for the government to extend it for an additional two years if needed. Committee Secretary Laxman Aryal confirmed that the decision was made unanimously.
