Aug 22, Kathmandu - As protests and demonstrations spread across Nepal, authorities have begun a house search at the home of Progresh Chaudhary, the prime suspect in the murder of three-year-old Garima Chaudhary. Although the victim's body was recovered on Tuesday, police initially refused to search the residence of Progres and Suman Thapa, who live in the same house, citing local claims that the house belonged to Progres.

The local community alleged that Garima often visited the house, which belongs to Progres, and accused the family of foul play, asserting that the murder may have occurred there. Progres Chaudhary, a vehicle driver, and Suman Thapa, his co-driver, are under police custody, with Thapa reportedly confessing to kidnapping, raping, and killing Garima.

Garima's father, Manoj Chaudhary, had filed a complaint with the local police after her disappearance last Sunday. Tensions escalated when locals demanded a search of Progres’ house, leading to the police conducting the search on Saturday. The body was found wrapped in cloth in an abandoned house near the village, after locals noticed a foul smell and alerted authorities.

The investigation continues amidst heightened protests, with authorities affirming that they are following leads to bring justice for the young victim.
