UK Announces £5 Million Aid to Nepal for Disaster Relief Amidst Devastating Floods and Landslides

Aug 27, Kathmandu - In the wake of catastrophic floods and landslides that have caused widespread destruction in Nepal, the United Kingdom has pledged a financial aid of £5 million (approximately 1 billion Nepali Rupees). British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced this support on Thursday, reaffirming the UK’s strong commitment to assist Nepal during this challenging time.

Amid ongoing rescue operations, hundreds of individuals remain missing, including 33 British nationals, raising concerns that some may have lost their lives. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak also proposed deploying British emergency rescue teams to the affected areas, though the final decision rests with the Nepalese government.

The floods have inundated local settlements, with river waters flooding homes and thick mud covering the affected areas, making rescue efforts extremely difficult.
