Aug 30, Kathmandu - The body of Nepal Police Assistant Sub-Inspector Deependra Bista, who went missing during the floods in Rasuwa, has been identified.

Originally from Tansen Municipality-10, Palpa, 34-year-old Bista was working at the Timure Area Police Office when he was swept away by the flood. His body was recovered in Gorakhama, and it has now been handed over to his family for funeral rites. Assistant Chief District Officer Chitraangat Baral confirmed that Bist's brother, Deepak Bahadur, recognized the body.

Following the flood in Rasuwa, a total of 102 bodies have been recovered from various districts and brought to Pokhara. As of Saturday evening, 50 bodies had been examined, with 12 identified, according to Baral. The families of flood victims are increasingly visiting the Pokhara Academy of Health Sciences for identification.

The hospital has set up screens displaying images to assist families in identifying their loved ones. Inspector Tekprasad Subedi from the District Police Office, stationed at the hospital for body management, stated that efforts are underway to organize the remains. "We have arranged a help desk with details of the victims, including their clothing, where families can come and identify their loved ones," he added.
