Sep 07, Kathmandu - Three companies operating the 216 MW Upper Trishuli-1 Hydropower Project in Rasuwa are preparing a relief package to support workers and their families impacted by the recent destructive floods.

The Nepal Water and Energy Development Company (NWEDC) along with the contracting firms have prioritized cooperation with security agencies during search and rescue operations, which has caused some delays in the official relief announcement process.

NWEDC is currently compiling a list of individuals working at various sites of the project during the flood. Once detailed information about the workers and staff is confirmed, all families will be notified.

At the time of the flood, approximately 1,433 workers, including engineers, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractors Dusan Enarbilty and two sub-contractors — Power Construction Corporation China and NREDCH Hydro — were deployed across the project sites. As of Saturday, Bhadra 20, 876 workers and staff have been rescued, while 557 remain unaccounted for.

Both the EPC contractor (Dusan Enarbilty) and the sub-contractors are making every effort to gather accurate information regarding their workers’ safety and whereabouts.
