Sep 07, Kathmandu - The Nepal Health Insurance Board has announced significant measures to facilitate healthcare services in the districts of Rasuwa, Nuwakot, and Dhading, which were severely affected by the recent floods caused by the Bhotekoshi River. 

Following a decision made on Bhadra 22, the government declared these districts as disaster-affected zones for three months. Consequently, the board has waived co-payments and caps on health insurance services at healthcare providers in these districts during this period. 

According to the board, insured individuals in these areas will be able to access health insurance services without the usual co-payment or cap restrictions until the specified period ends. Additionally, even those without health insurance cards will not be barred from receiving medical care in the flood-affected regions.

The decision also directs healthcare providers to verify insured persons through the IMIS-User system to ensure smooth delivery of services.

The government declared these districts as disaster zones following unexpected flooding from the Lhedde River in Rasuwa on Bhadra 10, which caused extensive damage in Rasuwa, Nuwakot, and Dhading.  

Dr. Pawan Kumar Sah, Senior Medical Superintendent and spokesperson of the Nepal Health Insurance Board, informed all stakeholders to adhere to the board’s directives to facilitate uninterrupted healthcare services during this emergency period.
