Sep 12, Kathmandu - The meeting of the CPN-UML's Election Review and Party Reorganization Task Force is underway at the party headquarters in Chasral. The session is focusing on discussing two conflicting reports prepared by different factions within the party.

The discussion centers around the report drafted by General Secretary Shankar Pokhrel, which was earlier criticized by party Chairman KP Sharma Oli for not aligning with his preferences. Following this, Oli directed the report to be revised, with leader Pradeep Ghimali assisting in the process.

Meanwhile, the task force's coordinator Ram Bahadur Thapa Badal has prepared a separate, condensed 39-page report after editing the 65-page draft submitted by Shankar Pokhrel. Both reports are scheduled to be presented and debated in today's meeting.

Sources indicate that members loyal to Shankar are advocating to stick with the original report, while supporters of Pokhrel demand revisions aligned with Oli’s directives. The disagreement over the reports has added tension to the session, which is further complicated by the absence of party President KP Sharma Oli, who had previously participated in similar meetings.

The ongoing dispute threatens to intensify internal rifts within the party as leaders grapple over the future direction of its election and organizational strategies.
