Sep 14, Kathmandu - Birbal Tamang, the chairperson of Kispang Rural Municipality in Nuwakot, was detained by police as he was leaving the Prime Minister’s Office after a discussion with Prime Minister Balendra Shah.
Tamang was reportedly apprehended at the gate of Singha Durbar on charges related to banking violations. The police confirmed that he was taken into custody while exiting the office premises.
Prime Minister Shah had earlier held discussions today with local representatives from flood-affected areas of Rasuwa. Following the meeting, Tamang was detained by authorities.
According to Kathmandu Police SP Dan Bahadur Thapa, Tamang was involved in a banking offense that has already been filed in court. "The case has been registered in court, and he was expected to appear there. However, he did not go," Thapa stated.
Tamang hails from Kispang-3 in Nuwakot district and is the proprietor of Oshin Transport and Adventure Pvt Ltd., based in New Bazar, Kathmandu.
