Sep 19, Kathmandu - Chitwan National Park has reported the discovery of a wild male elephant named ‘Ronald’ dead in the park. The elephant was found lifeless near the Poisonous Post area.

The cause of Ronald’s death remains unknown. A team from the park is currently conducting an on-site investigation to determine the circumstances. According to Avinash Thapa Magar, the park’s Conservation Officer and Information Officer, the exact cause will only be confirmed after thorough investigation.

Ronald, known as a ‘celebrity’ in the Soraha-Khorosor region, had gained popularity for a long time at the Elephant Breeding and Training Center located nearby. The center’s chief conservation officer, Dil Bahadur Purja Poon, stated that Ronald was the father of many elephants born in the center.

Estimated to be around 53 years old, Ronald’s body showed signs of conflict with other elephants, including the loss of his tail, which was also believed to be the result of a struggle.

With Ronald’s demise, a well-known chapter in the story of the wild male elephant of Soraha-Khorosor comes to an end. The park authorities emphasized that the true cause of his death will only be clear after further investigation.
