Sep 20, Kathmandu - The highly anticipated fifth series of the successful Nepali film franchise "Kabaddi" has announced its release date. The film is set to hit theaters on Karthik 6, the day after Dashain Tika, marking a significant milestone for fans.
The production team unveiled a first-look poster alongside the announcement, featuring the franchise's beloved characters—Kaji (Dayahang Rai), B.K. (Bijay Baral), and Chhantyal (Buddhi Tamang)—each portrayed in their familiar roles.
All four previous "Kabaddi" films have been box office hits, with "Kabaddi 4" grossing nearly NPR 22 crore, setting a record for the highest-grossing Nepali film at the time. Although the fourth installment was presented as the final chapter, director Rambabu Gurung revealed that the story of the characters remains incomplete, prompting the creation of the fifth film.
Gurung explained that the new installment is not just a continuation of the brand but aims to complete the unresolved narratives and character journeys. The film is produced under the banner of Basuri Films, with Gurung also serving as the writer and director.
The star-studded cast includes Dayahang Rai, Vijay Baral, Buddhi Tamang, Vipin Karki, Rishma Gurung, Saruna Gurung, Pushkar Gurung, Kabita Ale, Aruna Karki, Shishir Bangdel, Maotse Gurung, and Kamalmani Nepal.
Investment for the project comes from director Gurung, Maniram Pokhrel, Madhu Mijar, and LG Gurung. Sagar Raj is the executive producer, with Sanjay Lama handling cinematography and Surendra Poudel editing.
The film is distributed in Nepal by Bankates Entertainment & TFlick, with overseas rights held by Seven Sizz International.
