Sep 21, Kathmandu - Nepal’s Parliament Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal recently held a farewell meeting with the outgoing Indian Ambassador to Nepal, Naveen Srivastava. During the meeting, Speaker Aryal congratulated Srivastava on successfully completing his tenure and expressed best wishes for his future endeavors.

Aryal praised Srivastava’s significant contributions toward strengthening Nepal-India bilateral relations and cooperation during his diplomatic mission. He also extended special gratitude to India for its prompt aid and support during Nepal’s recent devastating disasters, emphasizing India’s role as a trusted neighbor and first responder.

Highlighting the relief efforts, Aryal noted the deployment of Indian Air Force aircraft carrying relief and rescue materials, as well as technical assistance from experts and forensic specialists. He stated that such timely support during times of crisis deepened the bonds of friendship, goodwill, unity, and cooperation between Nepal and India.

The meeting also discussed the newly formed Nepal-India Parliamentary Friendship Group and the potential for increased inter-parliamentary collaboration. Aryal underscored the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in further strengthening the relationship, fostering mutual understanding, experience sharing, and joint efforts.

Expressing high regard for India’s democratic institutions, Aryal emphasized the need to continue exchanging democratic practices, parliamentary experiences, and best practices to enhance bilateral ties.

During the farewell, Srivastava shared that the damage caused in Rasuwa was unimaginable and reaffirmed India’s ongoing support in relief and rescue operations. He committed to standing by Nepal during times of crisis.
