Sep 22, Kathmandu - Prime Minister Balendra Shah is set to depart for New York this evening at 7 PM to attend the 81st United Nations General Assembly. In his absence, Finance Minister Dr. Swornim Wagle has been appointed as the acting Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister had recommended to President Ram Chandra Poudel to designate Finance Minister Wagle as the Acting Prime Minister during his absence. Based on this recommendation, President Poudel officially appointed Waghel to the role.

Prime Minister Shah is scheduled to address the UN General Assembly on Ashwin 8th and is expected to return to Nepal on Ashwin 10th.
