Sep 24, Kathmandu - Dhading District Administration has announced a complete suspension of vehicular movement on Prithvi Highway starting Thursday night due to increasing landslide and flood risks caused by continuous heavy rainfall.

In a notice issued Thursday, the administration stated that all vehicles traveling on Prithvi Highway will be halted from 8 PM Thursday to 5 AM Friday to ensure safety.

District Chief Officer Laxmi Pandey (Gautam) explained that ongoing rainfall in Dhading and surrounding areas, coupled with the Nepal Weather Service’s forecast of heavy to very heavy rain over the coming days, prompted the decision to mitigate potential risks.

The administration emphasized that the road closure aims to prevent human and material losses resulting from floods, landslides, and inundation, and to safeguard travelers.

Officials urged the public and drivers to stay informed about weather and road conditions, avoid high-risk areas, and strictly follow instructions issued by security agencies for their safety.
