Sep 26, Kathmandu - Pakistan’s military says 16 militants were killed in separate operations in the southwestern province of Balochistan over the past 48 hours.

The military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), said five militants were killed on Thursday during an operation targeting a suspected hideout in the Shaban area near provincial capital Quetta. Weapons, ammunition and explosives were recovered from the site, it said.

In a separate operation on Friday, security forces raided a location in Nushki district following an intelligence tip. An intense exchange of fire left 11 militants dead, according to the military.

The operations were part of a broader counterterrorism campaign, the army said. Since the campaign began on September 21, a total of 33 militants have been killed in Balochistan, it added.
